A list of resources fr your village
I am Kirby Posthumus. I am a qualified nursing sister and have my qualification in midwifery, pyschology, medical and surgical nursing and community nursing. I worked in the neonatal ICU for a few years and decided to specialise. South Africa currently does not have a neonatology course and thus I entered into Adult ICU. I attained my ICU diploma, cum laude, in 2016. I took a time off when my son Mikel was born and re-entere the work force in 2019. Throughout my studies and my journey into motherhood I couldn’t help but feel there was a gap in knowledge and resources. If I was struggling, surely I couldn’t be alone? I did research and found that there are many families who want reliable, knowledgable and available support with the option of in person interaction or a familiar voice on the other end of the phone. We needed a variety of people and expertise at our fingertips! Thus Our Village was born.
Is to provide services which are family centred and designed in such a way as to provide care givers with knowledge in order for them to make the best decisions for their own families. The way to raise a happy thriving family is method A or B, as so many claim but often something more in the middle.
